Big tech’s reckoning with data center opposition

We offer a lot of advice here at The Instigator. And it’s always refreshing when we see readers take it. After all, we think our planet depends on it.

So I was especially pleased to read that Mark Zuckerberg is taking Meta down the path we laid out in February and building both sustainability and local community needs into their enormous data center development plans.

I am being somewhat facetious, of course. We don’t have actual evidence that Zuck reads The Instigator (yet). And his promise certainly didn’t go as far as we recommended. It amounted to little more than one sentence in a 6,500-word essay. But the announced $1 billion fund for the communities where Meta builds data centers and the nod to environmental considerations is a start.
